Perspective

I suppose John Edwards would say this is symptomatic of "two Americas," but when somebody can make money teaching people how to kayak with their dogs, can things really be all that bad?

Dog kayaking

Looks pretty damned flamboyant to me.

I am a self employed fence contractor who at one time made a pretty decent living. I am still in the mix because I had enough sense to pay cash for all business necessities. Driving through the city the other day I was behind this brand new Lexus SUV, obviously a company vehicle. The Air brushed business promo read... "Custom painted eggs for all occasions". Needless to say, I asked myself, what exactly is it that I am doing wrong? Who is fencing in all these chickens?

Yes, well, but that is in Austin. Try checking in with Altoona, or Auburn ME, or Aliquippa, or Akron, or Ashland, or Albany GA, or Atlantic City. See how people are struggling in those places, outside the doin' fine bubble.
