Deepwater oil: Brazil hits a big one

Unless, of course, you are worried about the impact of the oil economy on the climate, this is some very nice news:

Together with Tupi, a nearby field also in Brazil’s offshore that contains five billion to eight billion barrels, Libra “represents far and away the biggest source of new oil we’ve found in several decades. And there appears to be plenty of promise that they will find more,” said Julius Walker, senior oil analyst with the International Energy Agency.

“Which makes it a very big deal. We’re talking about the single biggest source of new non-OPEC crude oil.

Unless, of course, Brazil joins OPEC.

That's good news for George Soros, who has, recently, invested heavily in Brazil offshore oil drilling while his puppet in Washington embargos American exploration...and then lifts the embargo while retaining the byzantine new regulations.

I can't wait until Tuesday morning!

Scenes from Coming Attractions for "Boehner v Obama":

1) Last week on Univision TV Obama said: "We’re gonna punish our enemies, and we’re gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us."

In response today, My Man John Boehner said:

“Ladies and gentlemen, we have a president in the White House who referred to Americans who disagree with him as ‘our enemies.’ Think about that. He actually used that word. When Ronald Reagan, George Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush used the word ‘enemy,’ they reserved it for global terrorists and foreign dictators — enemies of the United States. Enemies of freedom. Enemies of our country.

“Today, sadly, we have president who uses the word ‘enemy’ for fellow Americans — fellow citizens. He uses it for people who disagree with his agenda of bigger government — people speaking out for a smaller, more accountable government that respects freedom and allows small businesses to create jobs. Mr. President, there's a word for people who have the audacity to speak up in defense of freedom, the Constitution, and the values of limited government that made our country great. We don't call them ‘enemies.’ We call them ‘patriots.’”

2) Fighting for Jobs -- Obama TV ad for Barbara Boxer

It's worth watching this 30 second youtube video. It's a preview for what to expect from Obama for the next two years ... Shithead Defiance. Note the tone ... it's a window into the real Obama. He's one angry cat, actually.

From the ad, here are the sound bite memes we'll be hearing from Obama after Tuesday: "Change this Country" "Fighting for Jobs" "Clean Energy" "Green Energy Jobs that Can't Be Outsourced."

This is relevant to the lede of this thread. Obama & Co have killed our domestic drilling industry in the Gulf. The drilling will still get done, just elsewhere.

Weather-stripping homes in Detroit ? ... funded with home improvement loans funded through Fannie/Freddie ? Now that's a energy/jobs program for you!

I note, also, that Obumble also gave $1 billion to Brazil to help with their oil exploration program (and Soros' investment)------and now they (Brazil) have elected a Marxist for President/soon to be Dictator. Coincidence? I doubt it.

Hold on! Oil Peaked years ago....
Oh, never mind.

More oil found in Brazil?

Explains why Soros was their and why Obama has loaned $2 billion to Brazil.

A lot of Iowa Hawkeyes here, so I thought this worth mentioning ...

60 Minutes had a piece last night on the plight of Newton Iowa -- "Anger in the Heartland." The town has been in a death spiral since Maytag closed its big appliance factory there.

As we watched, I told my relatives what Obama should be doing for places like Newtown if he were a true populist President:

Obama should have brought in GE's Jeff Immelt to privately tell him to bring the appliance manufacturing jobs back from Mexico, etc. Else GE would get its balls cut off.

GE ... which is really 50% a financial company ... would have failed in the financial crisis but for government bailout. Bringing back jobs is the vig to be paid.

Instead, Obama got Immelt to ensure that the different arms of NBC only gave Obama favorable media coverage. Instead, Obama and Immelt conspired over wind turbines and fancy light bulbs, to be Made In China.

Am I wrong?

Ignoramus, I've worked in manufacturing my entire adult life. Everything from turning wrenches at the end of a 14 hr day up to strategic forecasting - part of which included site selections and consolidation scenarios. All I can offer from that experience is this - nobody moves a manufacturing location willy nilly. It is expensive and risky. The proper verbage isn't "___ moved the jobs." The proper verbage is "The US business climate DROVE AWAY the jobs."

"The US business climate DROVE AWAY the jobs."

Spot on. We're still driving away jobs. Who would open a factory or an office in the USA in the current environment? This is Problem Number One -- and it's linked to Problem Number Two -- the Housing Market.

Obama-ism has made Unemployment an even bigger problem than it would have been. I guesstimate it's caused about 2% of current unemployment, relying in part on Larry Summers' own prior projections.

You only need look at Germany -- where unemployment has fallen to an 18-year low -- for validation.
