Barack Obama: More awesome than the Grand Canyon!

Lest you thought that the mainstream media was getting real on Barack Obama, get a load of this bit from the Arizona Republic on the occasion of the president's visit to the Grand Canyon:

For tourists at the Grand Canyon Sunday, the political star power of President Barack Obama and the First Family temporarily eclipsed the landmark's majestic natural beauty.

More awesome than the Grand Canyon! What country can say that about its president?

CWCID: Smitty at the Other McCain.

Eclipsed does not mean outshine, outdo, or bigger than. It means an insignificant pebble blocked the life-giving and sight-giving light by getting in the way. That's Barack Obama, an insignificant pebble. I refer you to Apostle Peter, who was told by Jesus that he was a pebble, but His Truth is The Rock.

I don't believe TH meant any different interpretation in his use of "eclipse" than you describe, though he was using "awesome" colloquially. He has teenagers.

Daniel Hannan is more to my liking than Barack Obama though, as a politician, and I wish he was an American.

Cool! But..."I want MY America back!"

He's wasting his Star Power. He should save it for a difficult part of the song, or a part that he can do really well.

And, CC "your America" would be what exactly?

TOTUS wasn't cool with the whole Grand Canyon thing, especially with the part that compared the national debt to the Canyon itself.
