Forgiving torture

Democrats who want to prosecute Bush administration officials for interrogation practices after 9/11 should follow the lead of the Obama administration, which wants to let bygones be bygones.

It's not what you think.

After tax season I think I know what waterboarding feels like, courtesey of the Chicago Machine now transplanted to DC.

Just sayin.

I read the link, but I still can't quite get what you're saying ("not what you think").

Are you saying the Obamadmin is opposed to these prosecutions? Because while they have said that is the case, they are bringing the concept of "praising with faint damnation" to whole new levels.

The fact is, this whole issue to me is example number 12,000 of Obama's cluelessness. In that he has no idea what a genuinely horrifying abomination of a course of action this is, and what a firestorm it could raise, and what an evil precedent it will set, even if he is not driving it, but merely refusing to stop it. 200 years of US history has been about NOT prosecuting political differences, but rather settling them at the ballot box.

I am beyond livid about this issue, and I would say this loud and long: If these prosecutions go forward, and then there is any sort of attack upon us that costs American lives, I would forcefully advocate getting out the longest possible knives and going after the Democrats pushing this, big time. And I mean immediately, before the smoke clears and the bodies are removed.

Blame them loudly and forcefully, and when the "this is not the time" wailing begins.... blame them LOUDER and MORE FORCEFULLY. Hammer them without any hint of mercy, sue them if we can, prosecute them if we can, destroy them if we can, and listen to not one word from those calling for "unity" or "decency" or anything of the like.

Because this is exactly what they are trying to do right now, to good people who were trying their best to protect the country from terror (and succeeding... their biggest crime?), and they are doing it because they have the sheer power to do it, and because they want to do it.... and because they hate. They simply hate.

And it is difficult to get around the idea that, as virtually every political person on the planet has a enemy or enemies, for these particular Democrats advocating this, their enemy must ALWAYS be their own countrymen, and none other. Always. No matter what. ALWAYS their own people, NEVER an outsider, no matter what they might do.

They follow this course, and they OWN terror one hundred percent, and if Americans die, then smoking bodies must be hung around their necks forever, and if they can be charged with negligent homocide, charge them. If they can be sued, sue them. If they can be blamed, blame them. It they can be ruined, ruin them.

I have commented across the 'sphere on issues for eight years. This is possibly the angriest post I have ever made. And it does not begin to match my level of disgust for these prosecutions.

Obama is distracting the country with these persecutions. Why? I really do not get it. Maybe it's the coming massive tax increases and destruction of what remains of the economy through the various forms of industrial policy being talked about in DC that might be his worry; or perhaps it's the coming fall of nuclear Pakistan to the Taliban and the coming nuclear arming of our implacable foe, Iran, that might be something he's worried about. He probably doesn't want to be the president who gets tagged by history for presiding over the return of the dark ages, I suppose. Who knows what he's afraid of, but this senseless PR roasting of the previous administration must have some purpose!
