Coming to Iowa City

I'm taking the TigerHawk Teenager out to Iowa tomorrow so that he can spend the night and attend classes at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon. I'll be staying in Iowa City tomorrow night; if there are local readers who would enjoy getting together for a beer at some point after about 7:30 send me an email and I'll let you know if I'm sufficiently recovered from my cold to meet you at some suitable watering hole.

To: TH teenager- Do not, repeat, do not even think about going to to Cornell College in Iowa!!! If you have any alternative, TAKE IT!!
Cornell College in Iowa may be a wonderful, wonderful place, but if you plan to live ANYWHERE but Mt. Vernon, Iowa, you'll spend the rest of your life explaining how, "No, it's not the Ivy League university, it's a small school, out in the wilderness!"

Why is the confusion with the New York Cornell necessarily a bad thing? When you tell people you went to Cornell College, at least some of them will think it's the one in NY and won't bother to ask. You can kind of piggyback on the other Cornell's prestige.

Man I would love to, Cedar Rapids is just a hop and skip up the road, but I don't get off work until 2 AM ;-(

I think it is pretty cool that you like to meet your readers TH.

I do, although I feel a little more secure pumping out a general notice about a visit to Iowa City than, say, other places.
