Barack Obama's vice president

We all heard a great deal during the campaign about how much more "qualified" Joe Biden was than Sarah Palin. If actual executive, political, or policy competence were among those qualifications, one would naturally suppose he would be given something, rather than nothing, to do.

CWCID: Glenn Reynolds.

Greetings:

I think that Joe Biden's selection was Obama's life assurance policy.

Don't kill me or numbnuts takes over.

Actually I think the American people weren't looking at her experience as much as the fact that (1) she was and is a right wing loon, (2) she had and has as much substance as paper-mache, (3) she had and has a big mouth, and allowed herself to be perceived as Elizabeth Hasselback's intellectual twin, (4) she was almost snide in the way she incited the sick, racist shouts at rallies (see #3).

Then we can move to experience.

I feel sorry for the GOP. What to do with her? Newt is likely grooming Jindal. Something, anything to keep this lady from rising again to lead the bumpkins to slaughter in 2012 the way Goldwater rose in 1964...

Just in case I don't get by to comment tomorrow, here's wishing you and yours a wonderful Thanksgiving!

"Then we can move to experience."

You mean the substantive experience she has that BO never has had, Chrissy? BO has accomplished exactly zip dot squat in his political career except to advance himself. Funny how she's been defeated and your guy is in now getting blown daily by the MSM but your still shitting over her, Chrissy.

BO *is* slicker than a tanker of light crude, I'll give him that. But he gives new meaning to the phrase "empty suit". He's got retreads from the last four administrations filling his posts because the only "change" he has to offer is chump change, Chrissy.

Welcome back Christopher Chambers! Last time I saw you post around here, it was around the time of Rev. Wright's Press Club event, and you thought it was game over for your candidate. Looks like it's just beginning.

I hope if you happen to attend a function at the White House sometime next year, you will post here and describe your experience.

The season finale of the NHRA's Powerade High pressure blower Series began with Pedregon holding a 12-point Industrial fan edge over Wilkerson and a 39-point Industrial blower lead over Hight.A near capacity crowd -- perhaps Commercial blower sensing that the title could be decided early -- had maneuvered ugg boots around shuttered freeways and other roads closed by the Wholesale Jewelry Southern California brush fires pressure blower and arrived on time for the pressure blowers opening round. It began with Pedregon advancing fans to the semifinals uggs by knocking out Jerry Toliver. Then Wilkerson lost blowers to 14-time champion John Force.

Biden, when appointed, was an important signal to the big democratic party donors that it would be business as usual in an Obama White House. At the time, Obama did not want to get painted into a too-liberal corner, which is where the Clintons were trying to go with him. Remember, big party politics is increasingly about getting the money to win races and not about ideas (and most certainly not about REAL change). Obama is a creature of the Daley Machine, and it is my prediction that his domestic agenda will focus on fund raising and looking good, while leaving most agencies in the hands of conservative democratic party faithful. Think of Obama as a younger, slightly hipper version of John Kerry who relates better to younger liberals and voters of colour and you are getting the idea.

Biden, with his Delaware connections, fits the bill perfectly for an Obama functionary perfectly. He has juice with the large financial institutions that make up the biggest democratic party donors. For example, he was influential in getting the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention Act passed in 2005 for MBNA. Don't think that there won't be a quid pro quo for the bailout. Also, as a social conservative, Biden would appeal to certain advisors from the Chicago machine, like co-chair of the transition committee and former commerce secretary Bill Daley.

And perhaps one of the most important things about Biden is that it allows the democrats to pass on another Senate seat without having the candidate vetted by an election, and then allows that allows the appointee to run in six years as an incumbent. We're going to see a lot of this going on in the future. For example, in Jersey we haven't had a real senate election in a while, they just keep appointing people to seats that they haven't won. Biden was getting close to retirement, but rather than letting someone run openly for his seat Ruth Ann Minner now controls his replacement. This is classic machine politics at its best.

But what is the incentive for Biden you ask? Well, if some crackpot does get off the lucky shot he becomes POTUS by default, since he could never be elected.

Forgot to add that Biden, as former head of the Senate Foreign relations committee, is ideally situated to be the bagman for the foreign lobbyists (remember Al Gore?). Don't think that that is not important these days.

Viking, I think you have nailed it. I suppose it is somewhat of a relief that BO is not the Manchurian Candidate some of us feared - Ayers will only be Secretary of Education, not Secretary of Defense. It will be agonizing though over the next four years as the MSM hails him as a combination of Lincoln and Roosevelt when in reality he is nothing but a Chicago machine hack with slick rhetoric.
