Queen Elizabeth II sets off weapon of mass destruction

Queen Elizabeth II has powerful mojo. She knighted Salman Rushdie, and all of a sudden and for no apparent reason fires started throughout the Muslim world. If she could learn to target that power a little more precisely it would be a potent weapon. Knight somebody here, create huge fires and panicked crowds 6,000 miles away. The Pentagon has got to be interested in that.

Not everybody is persuaded. Charles Johnson, with no basis whatsover, thinks there is another influence at work:

If you think this is bad, wait until Friday, the day of prayer, when the mullahs, imams, and sheikhs of the Islamic world will work their special magic on the millions gathered in mosques. It’s gonna be a hell of a Friday.

Where does he get these ideas?

I can't believe the news media still covers these staged demonstrations.

Newspapers seldom cover bomb scares. The news media should have the same policy toward this stuff.

The demonstrations are not news. And the demonstrations are no longer entertainment.

Heck, I have to pay for ads. Let the Islamists take up a collection and do the same thing to get in the papers.

Come on TH, the Queen very astute re: the world, but so much that this was some sort of calculated policy move/nose thumbing of Islam.

Look--what if we had a President with a brain and who SUPPORTS the current stem cell bill? He signs it, he gets on the bully pulpit for it. Is he doing it to thumb his nose at our own version of the mullahs: the wacky right-wing Baptists and a couple of septegenarian Catholic cardinals? No. Because it's a good thing to do.
Look, even Elton John is a knight. Richard branson is a knight. It's a bullsh*t title in the land that gave us bullsh*t titles. Just ask the Irish, the Welsh and the Scots...

Newspapers seldom cover bomb scares.

The papers actively cover up bomb scares (and bank robberies that were successful where nobody was hurt)

Christopher,

If you could break out of your incoherent bubble for a moment or two, would you mind explaining what stem cells have to do with QE2 or Rushdie?

Coherence is not Mr. Chambers' strong suit. He really should stuff his piehole. If his novels are as badly written as his internet posts, I'm not surprised they are scraping the bottom at Amazon. As for the Queen, my gracious thanks to her for knighting Salman Rushdie. I could not be more please unless the Nobel Committee had a burst of sanity and awarded Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

Might i suggest they knight a few musil extremists witha real sharp sword right around the arae of the neck OFF WITH HIS HEAD

Guys, guys...WHAT THE HELL?! Why the acrimony? You have to expand your horizons, diversify your views. LOL

And making fun of my writing? I don't roll into Wal-Mart and tell you (and your Mom) the proper way to greet folks and where the $3 rubber flip flops are, so lay off me, kindly.

Hey, TH was the one creating a bullsh*t issue out of a silly beknighting of a TRULY mediocre author; I was merely teasing using the stem cell folly.

Why the acrimony?

Incredulousness is probably a better description than acrimony.
