you know, I didn't see the democrats war totals go up to accommodate the confederate losses in the Civil War. Or were the total deaths (Union and Confederate) attributed to the Party of Lincoln?

If it were not for the american revolution we would still be a british colony.the civil war was not about slavery, the SPANISH/AMERICAN war was stirred up by the news media, WW I we got in becuase of a secret message between GERMANY and MEXICO WW II it was PEARL HAROR, the KOREAN WAR a because of the commies, VIETNAM becuase of the french and LBJ GULF WAR I BECUASE OF iraq Iinvading kuwait GULF WAR II to finish the job

So Nixon wasn't a Republican? Nice job laying Vietnam all on JFK and LBJ.

So, Greenman Tim, Carter's firing of the Shah and hiring of the Ayatollah, plus Clinton's giving Bin Laden a pass counts for blood on Bush's hands? How come you didn't mention that?

Couple reasons, CaveatBettor. One, Vietnam happened on the watches of 3 presidents. The deaths were incurred then. That is what this map was supposedly about, not who got the ball rolling, so Nixon doesn't get a pass because he was in office for more than four years of the war. He gets to own some of it.

Two, the map doesn't set the clock when some administration was asleep at the wheel unless hostilities ensued on their watch. Coddling the Ayatollah doesn't enter into it. And I noticed Carter's hostage rescue attempt and its casualties were appropriately assigned to him (with a disproportionately sized circle).

Mapping the root causes of American conflicts seems outside the scope of what the creators of this map intended, which is why I saw no reason to comment on it.

But fair is fair. If we are still in Iraq and Hillary or Obama gets to the White House, they get to own some of the casualties too. The buck stops with the Commander-in-Chief.
