Oil-for-Food: Volker releases his final report
The Volker inquiry into the U.N.'s Oil-for-Food scandal has released its final report. It is more than 600 pages in toto, but I am sure that it will be great reading for OFF afficionados. BBC coverage here. There is no indication, suggestion or hint of awareness in the BBC's account that the real scandal is not corruption or malfeasance per se, which in the case of the United Nations is hardly surprising, but subversion of the Security Council to protect a tyrant.
